Volume III: Biographies

JORDAN, Dorothy *

Actress (1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Dorothy Jordan appeared in Thanhouser films in 1914.

Biographical Notes: Little is known about Dorothy Jordan, the Thanhouser actress. Apparently, she worked at the studio for only a month or so.

Note: The Thanhouser actress was a different person from the much younger Dorothy Jordan, stage and screen actress, who was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on August 9, 1910, was educated at the Southwestern University in Memphis and at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York, and who was seen on stage in New York City in the 1920s. Beginning in 1929, this other Dorothy Jordan was seen in numerous Hollywood films. On May 27, 1933, she married Merian C. Cooper, a major figure in the film industry, who was at one time vice president in charge of production at the RKO-Radio film studio and, later, held a similar position with Selznick. He co-produced, co-directed, and co-wrote King Kong.
