GUNN, Charles *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Charles Gunn appeared in a Thanhouser film in 1913.

Biographical Notes: Charles Gunn was born in Wisconsin on July 31, 1883. He followed a stage career and traveled with a number of road companies. Later, he worked on the West Coast with the Morosco and Alcazar stock companies while acting in motion pictures during the same period. In films he worked with Thanhouser, Paralta, and Triangle, although his work with Thanhouser was minor. Among his 1917 Triangle credits were Chicken Casey, Madcap Madge, and The Firefly of Tough Luck. In his spare time he enjoyed automobiling, motorboating, and aviation. Gunn died of influenza (acquired while taking care of his wife, who had the same affliction) in Los Angeles on December 6, 1918, shortly before he was to open at the Morosco Theatre in the stage play, Pals First. (Variety, in an obituary dated December 13, 1918, gave his death date as December 11, 1918). He was survived by his wife, Nina, and his mother, Mrs. Samuel Gunn, of Oakland, California.
