BRADY, Phil *

Actor (1912-1916)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: During the 1912-1916 period Phil Brady was an actor with Thanhouser.

Biographical Notes: On April 15, 1912, Phil Brady participated in a skit at the Thanhouser Employees' First Annual Entertainment and Ball, and on September 7, 1912 he was among those attending the Thanhouser picnic and outing. In 1915 he was among the stockholders in the Thanhouser Players Photoplay Company, which acquired the North Avenue Theatre in New Rochelle and operated it as a motion picture house, with occasional stage presentations. His sister was married to David H. Thompson, of the Thanhouser organization. At one time he worked as a stuntman for the American Biograph studio in New York City.

New Rochelle city directories list Phil Brady's occupation as an actor, living at 99 Brookside Place in 1911 and 1912. In 1913 he was omitted from the directory. From 1914 to 1918 he lived at 12 Stephenson Boulevard. In 1911 actors Frank and James F. Brady were listed at the same address. In 1912, actors Frank, James, and Joseph Brady lived with him. Phil and Joseph Brady were omitted from the 1913 directory, but James F. Brady lived at 130 North Avenue. From 1914 to 1918, Phil, James F., and Joseph Brady lived at 12 Stephenson Boulevard. While Phil continued to be listed as an actor, from 1916 to 1918 James F. and Joseph, earlier listed as actors, were listed as an ironworker and clerk respectively.
