Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Herbert Barrington was an actor with Thanhouser at one time, according to various 1916-1918 editions of the Motion Picture Studio Directory.

Biographical Notes: Born as Herbert Barrington Bosworth in England in 1872, he came to the United States and was educated in Cincinnati. His stage career included Shakespeare and other plays with Richard Mansfield in 1899 and productions with Wyndham in London in 1900. He later appeared in New York City in Floradora. He was in stock and went on tour, playing in When We Were Twenty-One and other productions.

Herbert Barrington's motion picture career began with Edison in 1911, after which he went to Solax and then, according to a listing in various 1916-1918 editions of the Motion Picture Studio Directory, to Thanhouser. Later, he acted for Pilot, Biograph, Universal (The Way of the World), and World (Maternity, Shall We Forgive Her?, A Self-Made Widow). One account stated he began his film career in 1912 with Pilot in Yonkers, New York. In late 1915 and 1916 he was working at the Universal Studios in Universal City, Los Angeles. In 1918 he was with World. Herbert Barrington died in Tarrytown, New York on October 26, 1933.
