CRANDALL, Doc *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Doc Crandall, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser -Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: James Otis ("Doc") Crandall was born on October 8, 1887 in Wadena, Indiana. He played major league baseball for 10 years and was in three World Series contests (1911, 1912, and 1913). Standing just over 5'10" tall, he weighed 180 pounds.

In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he batted for Mathewson in the ninth inning and grounded out to second base. Crandall died on August 17, 1951 in Bell, California.
