CONDON, James

Bystander (1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: James (or William) Condon, a child, was a bystander during filming of Their One Love.

Biographical Notes: At about 10 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 1914, a group of flash bombs being handled by Thanhouser property man Joseph Horan exploded in a blinding flash, injuring Horan and four children: James Condon, John Cooper, and two Sieverts children, George and Carl. The New Rochelle Pioneer, April 17, 1915, noted that a legal action seeking $25,000 damages had been filed against the Thanhouser Film Corporation by Mary J. Condon, guardian of William Condon. The Condon family lived at 122 East Main Street in New Rochelle. In an account in The Evening Standard, April 2, 1915, the youth's given name was stated as James.
