THOMPSON, Nicholas J. *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Nicholas J. Thompson was an actor with Thanhouser in 1912.

Biographical Notes: Nicholas ("Nick") J. Thompson was born in Houston, Texas on September 11, 1889 and was educated there. He followed a stage career, playing four years with the Baldwin-Melville Stock Company and performing in New Orleans and elsewhere. The October 1916 Motion Picture News Studio Directory noted that his screen career by that time comprised two years with Reliance, one year with Pathé, two years with Biograph, one year with Yankee, and six months with Colonial, with additional employment from time to time with Republic, Kalem, Fox, Universal, World, Thanhouser, and Erbograph. He played in Daniel Boone, The Wages of Sin, The Importer, The Face in the Moonlight, A Woman's Power, The Rack, Thelma, Guy Mannering, Seats of the Mighty, and other films. He was 5'10" tall, weighed 170 pounds, and had black hair and brown eyes.

In 1916 he was playing character parts with Erbograph, his home address was 333 West 13th Street, New York City, and his studio address was 203 West 146th Street, New York City. For recreation he enjoyed horseback riding, boxing, swimming, and fencing. The 1918 edition of the Motion Picture Studio Directory gave his home address at the time as 564 Palisades Avenue, West New York, New Jersey, and his studio address as 318 East 48th Street, New York City. Nicholas J. Thompson died on April 22, 1980.
