GIRONDA, "Jock" *

Actor (1914-1917)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: "Jock" (or Jack) Gironda appeared in Thanhouser films from 1914 to 1917.

Biographical Notes: "Jock" Gironda was born in Mamaroneck, New York and was educated there. His early career was as a jockey, which qualified him for horseman roles and special stunt work in films. On August 21, 1915, he won the horse race and first prize for exhibition riding at a carnival held by motion picture exhibitors at Brighton Beach. The 1916 and 1917 editions of the New Rochelle city directories noted that he operated a riding school and his home was at 18 Franklin Avenue. Early in the same year he did work for Thanhouser at the Jacksonville studio.

Note: His surname was misspelled as "Gironde," "Girando," "Geronda," and "Gerando" in some notices. His first name sometimes appeared as Jack.
