COOLEY, James R. *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: James R. Cooley was an actor with Thanhouser in 1915.

Biographical Notes: James R. Cooley was born in Nelsonville, Ohio in 1880. At the age of four he exhibited a precocious interest in acting, and as a youth he appeared on the stage in various productions. Later, as a student in electrical engineering at the Ohio State University, he was a popular thespian, but in 1903 he left in the middle of his studies in the spring term of his second year to join a stage company. Later, he worked in the northeastern United States and Canada in various plays. By 1909 he had appeared in many shows and was a member of the Harry Davis stock company in Pittsburgh.

In 1912 and 1913 he was before the camera at Reliance, and by 1915 James Cooley was an actor with Thanhouser. In between film engagements for various companies he was an actor on the legitimate stage. Cooley died in Hollywood, California on November 5, 1948.
