STANLEY, Edwin *

Actor (1915-1916)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Edwin Stanley was an actor with Thanhouser in 1915 and 1916 and appeared in films released in 1916.

Biographical Notes: Born in Chicago on November 22, 1880, Edwin Stanley early in his career went on the stage, spending three years in dramatic stock followed by five years on the Keith vaudeville circuit. He joined Thanhouser in 1915 and was seen in numerous films released by the studio in 1916. The actor then appeared in The Law of Compensation, for Selznick, Just a Woman, for Julius Steger, and was seen in other films of the era. In 1916, at which time he was with Thanhouser in New Rochelle, he was listed as being 6' tall, weighing 165 pounds, and having black hair and dark brown eyes. His pastimes included riding, swimming, motoring, and dancing. He moved to Hollywood in the late 1920s and appeared in dozens of films through the 1940s. Edwin Stanley died in Hollywood on December 24, 1944. He was survived by his wife and by his son, who was overseas.
