GARRISON, Lindley M. *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Lindley M. Garrison, United States Secretary of War, was seen in a cameo role in Episode 21 of Thanhouser's The Million Dollar Mystery serial.

Biographical Notes: Lindley Miller Garrison was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 28, 1864. As a lad he was educated at the Protestant Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia and Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. He did undergraduate work at Harvard University, after which he studied law at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1885. A year later he was admitted to the bar. Later, he practiced law in Camden and Jersey City. From 1913 to 1916 he served as Secretary of War in the administration of President Woodrow Wilson. After the World War broke out in Europe, Garrison and the president differed on the policy of military preparedness, and Garrison resigned. In 1914, while he was Secretary of War, he appeared with certain other government officials in a segment of Episode 21 of The Million Dollar Mystery. His death occurred on October 18, 1932 in Seabright, New Jersey.
