PALMER, Inda **

Actress (1911-1917)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Inda Palmer acted in many Thanhouser films from 1911 to 1917.

Biographical Notes: Inda Palmer Guard, known as Inda Palmer, an elderly woman, was a member of the Thanhouser stock company as early as 1911 and remained until the last year of operations. The February 3, 1912 issue of The Billboard named her as one of the leading Thanhouser actresses at the time. In the summer of 1917, in a period of declining company fortunes, she was one of only a few players still with Thanhouser. Her son, Sully Guard, was at one time a Thanhouser actor. As did several other Thanhouser players, Inda Palmer went to Astra (which released through Pathé) after Thanhouser ended its operations. She appeared in the December 1917 Astra film, Over the Hill. Inda Palmer met a mysterious and tragic death. She disappeared in Ridgewood, New Jersey on April 16, 1923, and her body was found in Paramus, New Jersey on November 10.
