BOWERS, William ("Billy") *

Actor (1915-1917)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: William Bowers was an actor with Thanhouser circa 1915-1917.

Biographical Notes: "Billy" Bowers, as he was known professionally, was on the stage for many years in minstrels and vaudeville, where he often played black-face roles. He subsequently played in films for Lubin (he played in the July 1916 releases of A Terrible Tragedy and It Happened in Pikersville). He went to Thanhouser in late 1915 or early 1916. He played in the Falstaff release of Belinda's Bridal Breakfast (1916), Thanhouser's The Candy Girl (1917), and other films.

Note: The 1917 and 1918 editions of the Motion Picture News Studio Directory stated incorrectly that John Bowers played in The Candy Girl. So far as is known, John Bowers had no connection with Thanhouser.
