MC CURREN, Michael

Studio employee (1912-1915)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Michael (or Mique) McCurren was an employee at the Thanhouser studio circa 1912-1915.

Biographical Notes: A photograph published in the January 20, 1912 issue of The Moving Picture News shows Michael McCurren in the Thanhouser studio watching the filming of The Poacher. In a caption for a photograph of the stage crew for Jess, he was identified as an electrician. In 1915 he had charge of the electrical effects for The Patriot and the Spy. New Rochelle city directories of the 1912-1916 years spelled his last name as McCurren, listed his occupation as an electrician, and gave his home address as 53 Walnut Street. The New Rochelle Pioneer likewise spelled his surname as McCurren, although elsewhere the "McCurran" spelling was often seen.

Note: In various newspaper articles, one in The New Rochelle Pioneer, March 27, 1915 for example, his given name was spelled as "Mique."
