Volume III: Biographies

MC CASKILL, C.R. ("Lord") *

Actor, assistant director (1914-1917)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: C.R. ("Lord") McCaskill appeared in Thanhouser films released from 1914 to 1917.

Biographical Notes: C.R. ("Lord") McCaskill was a familiar figure at the Thanhouser studio for several years, but the parts he played were minor and he was seldom mentioned in credits. In 1916 he was among the Thanhouser players at the firm's Jacksonville studio, where he served as assistant director for The Nymph. The New Rochelle Pioneer, June 3, 1916, announced that he was among nearly two dozen important players, directors, and cameramen whose employment was terminated by the studio on May 27, 1916, when the outlook for the Thanhouser Film Corporation seemed dismal. However, he worked later on Pots and Pans Peggie, probably on a project basis rather than as a member of the Thanhouser stock company.

Note: In an article in The Evening Standard, New Rochelle, May 15, 1915, his name was curiously misspelled as "Lors McKascle." His surname often appeared as "McGaskill.'
