NEWBURGH, Francis *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Francis Newburgh, also known as Frank Newburgh or Newburg, was an actor and cameraman with Thanhouser in 1912.

Biographical Notes: Francis Newburgh appeared in several Thanhouser films in 1912. In addition, he was a cameraman for the 1912 film, The Capture of New York.

Note: This may be the same person as Frank Newburg, an actor, who was born in Pennsylvania on October 9, 1886 and who died on November 4 (or 11), 1969. An obituary in Variety, November 19, 1969, told of this Frank Newburg, who died on November 11, 1969, at the age of 83, at the Motion Picture Country House and Hospital, Woodland Hills, California. He began in vaudeville in Philadelphia in 1910 and went to California in 1912, later appearing in over 100 films, including The Jazz Singer. He was survived by his daughter, Mickell, the wife of producer Walter Seltzer.
