BENZ, Margaret

Studio employee (1914-1916)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Margaret Benz worked in the film laboratory at the Thanhouser studio in 1914 and 1915.

Biographical Notes: New Rochelle directories gave Margaret Benz's occupation as "film cleaner" and listed her address in 1916 and 1917 as 48 Harrison Street. In 1918 she lived at 5 Rose Street. The same house was shared by Pere Amelia Benz.

The New Rochelle Pioneer, December 5, 1914, carried the following notice: "Margaret Benz, of the polishing room, entertained the Merry Hearts' Club, at a dinner at her home, 47 Hudson Street, Sunday. Among those present were: Misses May Hogan, May McCann, May Walsh, Pere Benz, Anna Smith, Bessie Daly, Lillian Cubbon, Beatrice Hodder; Messrs. Joseph Greenfield, Jack Sweeney, Harry Mack, Jack Brascine, Charles Branden, Thomas Hogan, John Smith, and Margaret Benz. Beatrice Hodder will be hostess this evening."
