Volume II: Filmography

THE FALL OF KHARTOUM

(Mutual)

(Indexed under December 31, 1914)

Intended for production in 1914 but never released

Length: 4 reels

Character: Drama; Thanhouser Big Production

Cast: Florence LaBadie

Note: Reel Life, December 27, 1913 printed a notice about Thanhouser "Big" Productions and the role of Michael Schliesser, animal trainer and keeper of the "Thanhouser Zoo." It was noted: "Many of the feature scripts call for lions, tigers, and other beasts of the jungle and Schliesser, who was with Hagenbeck of Germany, will find himself a busy man. One of these scripts is The Fall of Khartoum, which calls for elephants and camels in addition to other animals." The present writer can find no record of this film having been made in 1914 or released. Apparently, the film was about the defense and eventual fall of Khartoum in the 19th century.
