ARTICLE, The Moving Picture World, November 28, 1914:

"THANHOUSER'S 'OWN COUNTRY' PICTURES: Prompt to realize the importance of the 'See Our Own Country' sentiment sweeping the United States with an impetus given by disturbed conditions abroad, the Thanhouser management will soon release six one-reels of scenic-dramas, showing the wonders of the greatest of federal reservations - Yellowstone National Park. These pictures were taken with the express authority of Hon. Franklin K. Lane, Secretary of the Interior, who declared the project 'one of the greatest educational uses to which the motion picture camera has thus far been applied.' The result is that the Thanhouser pictures will carry to those unable to travel west, the wonders of this greatest of national parks. Secretary Lane and Lt. Col. Brett, U.S.A., commandant of Yellowstone Park, cut all red tape in order that the Thanhouser Company might work unhampered and obtain the best possible results."

ARTICLE, The New Rochelle Pioneer, December 12, 1914:

"Carl Louis Gregory, cameraman, returned Thursday morning [December 10th] from Washington, D.C., where he went to secure a motion picture of Secretary of the Interior Lane for use in the 'Our Own Country' features, which Mr. Gregory took this fall in the Yellowstone National Park."

ARTICLE, The Moving Picture World, January 2, 1915:

"The Secretary of the Interior, Franklin K. Lane has gone into pictures. The genial Californian who presides over the vast public domain of the nation posed for the camera last week. The pictures so taken will serve as an introduction to the educational Yellowstone pictures soon to be produced by Thanhouser Film Corporation. The action of Secretary Lane in permitting the use of these pictures is in line with the broad policy governing the department under his administration and is illustrative of his desire to let as many thousands of people as possible to view the scenic wonders of Uncle Sam's greatest reservations."
