HERZOG, Buck *

Film subject (1913)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: "Buck" Herzog, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: Charles Lincoln ("Buck") Herzog was born on July 9, 1885 in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent 13 years as a player in major league professional baseball and participated in four World Series contests (1911, 1912, 1913, and 1917). In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played third base and was at bat four times. Herzog died on September 4, 1953 in the city of his birth.

Note: He is not to be confused with Howard C. ("Buck") Herzog, a Milwaukee entertainment writer and film reviewer, who died on February 5, 1970 at the age of 64.
