SIEVERTS, Carl

Bystander (1915)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Carl Sieverts, a child, was a bystander during filming of Their One Love.

Biographical Notes: At about 10 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 1915, a group of flash bombs being handled by Thanhouser property man Joseph Horan exploded in a blinding flash, injuring Horan and four children: James Condon, John Cooper, and two Sieverts children, George and Carl. The New Rochelle Pioneer, April 17, 1915, noted that a legal action seeking damages had been filed against the Thanhouser Film Corporation by Frederick Sieverts, father of George and Carl, whose occupation was an inspector for the water company. The Sieverts family lived at 7 Pratt Street, New Rochelle, at the time.
