MC LEAN, Larry *

Film subject (1913)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Larry McLean, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: John Bannerman ("Larry") McLean was born on July 18, 1881 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was a major league baseball player for 13 years, and came from Cincinnati to New York part way through the 1913 season, just in time to participate in the World Series. Standing an impressive 6'5" tall, he weighed 228 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played center field, was at bat three times and had one hit. McLean died on March 14, 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts.
