BURNS, George *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: George Burns, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: George Joseph Burns was born on November 24, 1889 in Utica, New York. He spent 15 years as a player in major league baseball, including a long stint 1911-1921 with the New York Giants. He participated in three World Series contests, 1913, 1917, and 1921. Standing 5'7" tall, he weighed 160 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played left field and was at bat three times. Burns died on August 15, 1966 in Gloversville, New York.
