STRUNK, Amos *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Amos Strunk, a player with the Philadelphia Athletics baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: Amos Aaron Strunk was born on November 22, 1889 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He spent 17 years as a player in major league professional baseball, including service with the Philadelphia Athletics from 1908 to 1917. He participated in five World Series contests, 1910, 1911, 1913, 1914, and 1918. Standing just over 5'11" tall, he weighed 175 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played center field and was at bat four times. Amos Strunk died on July 22, 1979 in Llanerch, Pennsylvania.
