BOSTWICK, Phyllis *

Actress (1913-1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Phyllis Bostwick was an actress with Thanhouser in 1913 and was seen in a film released early in 1914.

Biographical Notes: Phyllis Bostwick graduated from Roxbury High School in Boston (where Ethyle Cooke, the Thanhouser actress, graduated) and subsequently attended the Emerson School of Oratory, after which she followed a career on the stage. In 1908 she toured with the At Yale company. In an interview printed in The St. Paul Dispatch, March 4th of that year, she declared that college-educated women were playing increasingly important parts in stage productions. In 1911 she toured in the role of Kit McNair in Seven Days. Later, she was in films with several companies, and worked briefly with Thanhouser in the autumn of 1913. In 1916 she was in the Columbia for Metro picture, Lovely Mary.
