CRUZE, May Bosen *

Actress (1912)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: May (also known as Mae) Bosen Cruze played minor parts in Thanhouser films in 1912.

Biographical Notes: May Bosen Cruze, sister of Thanhouser actor James Cruze, and who also adopted the "Cruze" surname, went with the Thanhouser players to Florida in 1912 and played minor parts in some of the films produced there. The New York Dramatic Mirror, May 6, 1914, reported that May Cruze, sister of James Cruze, and who also used the adopted Cruze surname, had joined the Frontier Company in Santa Paula, California, where she was leading woman. May Cruze appeared in numerous silent and sound films, including Walt Disney's Mary Poppins. Her death occurred at the age of 74, on August 16, 1965 at her home in Hollywood, California, following a long illness. Surviving were a sister, Julia Morris, and a nephew, James P. Morris. She left in manuscript a biography of James Cruze, My Big Brother.
