IRWIN, Will

Scenario writer (1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Will Irwin assisted with the preparation of a Thanhouser scenario in 1914.

Biographical Notes: Will Irwin, a well-known writer and novelist, collaborated with Al Jennings in the preparation of the scenario for Beating Back, the 1914 Thanhouser film which told of Jenning's life as an outlaw and his comeback in society. Earlier, Irwin wrote of Jennings' life for The Saturday Evening Post. Later, Irwin was the author of the 1928 biography of Adolph Zukor, The House That Shadows Built. Will Irwin was born in Oneida, New York on September 14, 1873, and died of a cerebral occlusion, in New York City on February 24, 1948, at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was survived by his wife, Inez, and various nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. At the time of his passing he lived at 240 West 11th Street and was working on a history of the Union League Club. In 1942 his autobiography, The Making of a Reporter, was published.
