PAYTON, Claude *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Claude Payton appeared in Thanhouser films in 1914.

Biographical Notes: Claude Payton was born in Centerville, Iowa on March 30, 1882. He became well known on the stage, and from at least 1908 through 1916 was an actor with the stock company of his brother, Corse Payton. Among the many productions in which he appeared were Floradora, The Ninety and Nine, and The House of a Thousand Candles. Payton appeared in the 1914 Thanhouser film, Jean of the Wilderness, and was chief of the detectives in the September 18, 1914 Princess release of The Master Hand. His wife Lucy was also with Thanhouser. He died in Los Angeles, California on March 1, 1955.
