TINEE, Mae *

Actress (cameo role) (1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Mae Tinee was seen in a cameo role in Episode 11 of The Million Dollar Mystery.

Biographical Notes: "Mae Tinee," a nom-de-plume derived from "matinee," was the name of the motion picture critic for The Chicago Tribune, who in her private life was Mrs. Zack Elton. Her articles, which included biographical sketches of Thanhouser players, were syndicated nationwide and appeared in many other newspapers as well. She happened to be on the scene in New Rochelle when a train was wrecked nearby, and Director Howell Hansel enlisted her services as an extra in a scene which was used in Episode 11 of The Million Dollar Mystery. Earlier, she was a witness to the filming of Episode 1 of the same serial. The Mae Tinee nom-de-plume was inherited by Mrs. Elton's successors at The Chicago Tribune and remained in use as late as the 1940s.
