NEW, Clarence Herbert

Scenario writer (1913-1914)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Clarence Herbert New wrote stories from which Lloyd F. Lonergan created the scenarios for certain Thanhouser films released in 1914. In 1913 he created the scenario for a film which was never released.

Biographical Notes: Clarence Herbert New was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 14, 1862. For a time he was editor of Reel Life, house organ of the Mutual Program. New wrote a film scenario for Thanhouser in 1913 and created the stories on which certain 1914 Thanhouser films in The Diplomatic Free Lance series were based. When Lloyd F. Lonergan wrote the actual scenarios for these films, he was "in constant consultation" with New, according to press accounts. Clarence Herbert New died in Brooklyn, New York on January 8, 1933.
