FLETCHER, Art *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Art Fletcher, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: Arthur ("Art") Fletcher was born on January 5, 1885 in Collinsville, Illinois. He spent 13 years as a player, and additional years as a manager, in major league baseball. He participated in four World Series contests, 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1917. Standing just over 510" tall, he weighed 170 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played shortstop and was at bat three times. Fletcher died on February 6, 1950 in Los Angeles, California.
