MURRAY, Red *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Red Murray, a player with the New York Giants baseball team, appeared in the Thanhouser-Princess film, The Final Game, which depicted highlights from the last game of the 1913 World Series, played in New York City on October 11, 1913.

Biographical Notes: John Joseph ("Red") Murray was born on March 4, 1884 in Arnot, Pennsylvania. He spent 11 years as a player in major league baseball and participated in three World Series contests (1911, 1912, and 1913). Standing just over 5'10" tall, he weighed 190 pounds. In the final game of the 1913 World Series, filmed by Thanhouser, he played right field and was at bat three times. Red Murray died on December 4, 1958 in Sayre, Pennsylvania.
