CRUZE, Julie *

Actress (1914-1915)

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: As an infant, Julie Cruze appeared in Thanhouser productions in 1914 and 1915, including The Million Dollar Mystery and Zudora serials.

Biographical Notes: Julie Jane Cruze was born in New York City on October 24, 1913, during the time when her mother, actress Marguerite Snow, and her father, actor James Cruze, were among the most prominent Thanhouser players. In late spring 1915 she went with her mother to Los Angeles, and enroute from New Rochelle the little girl contracted a case of measles.

In December 1915 she was seen in Rosemary (produced by Quality for Metro), in which her mother also appeared. In May 1932, it was announced that Miss Cruze, who was a performing musician and a composer, would have her own 14-piece dance orchestra, to be augmented by dancers, vocalists, and novelty artists. Maurice Kusell, her manager, signed Paul Titsworth to arrange music for the orchestra. Julie Jane Cruze died of pneumonia in San Diego, California, July 27, 1946. At the time her profession was listed as a night club entertainer.

Note: Her first name appears incorrectly as "Julia" in some notices.
