HENDERSON, Charles ("Charlie") *

Thanhouser Career Synopsis: Charlie Henderson was an actor with Thanhouser in 1915.

Biographical Notes: Charles ("Charlie") Henderson, born in Boston, became a familiar figure on stage in that city, and appeared at the Castle Square Theatre and elsewhere as a baritone singer and actor. He toured with various vaudeville and stock companies as well. Among his roles were those as president of the court in Madame X, Bob, the miller, in Canterbury Pilgrims, and the sheik in Sumurun. He was an actor for Thanhouser briefly in 1915 but played only uncredited, minor roles. In the 1920s and 1930s Charlie Henderson was on stage in New York City in numerous productions, including L'Aiglon, Bye Bye Bonnie, The Game of Love and Death, All Good Americans, Dodsworth, They Shall Not Die, and The Great Magoo. In 1933 he produced Four O'Clock, a play staged in New York City at the Biltmore Theatre. Later, he was a producer of Andre Kostelanetz's Wednesday evening musical radio programs on the Columbia network. Among his pastimes were ancient history (particularly Egyptology) and music.
