Volume II: Filmography

OH! OH! OH! HENERY!

April 4, 1916 (Tuesday)

Length: 2 reels

Character: Comedy

Cast: Jay C. Yorke (Henery), Frances Keyes (his wife), David Leighton (John), Edith Diestel (his wife), Nellie Parker Spaulding (the gossip)

Notes: 1. A word in the title was spelled by Thanhouser as "Henery" but was spelled as "Henry" in several schedules, as in The Moving Picture World, April 8, 1916. In certain notices in Great Britain it was publicized as Oh! Oh! Henry. 2. In the Thanhouser advertising for this film there was one exclamation point at the end of the title. Elsewhere, some listings had two or three exclamations (the latter in a schedule in The Moving Picture World, April 22, 1916).

SYNOPSIS, Reel Life, April 1, 1916:

"Henery was a meek and pious old boy when under the eyes of his wife, but just let him get out of her sight and he could show a few things in the line of speed that the younger fellows never thought of. Do you want to know who Henery is? Well, Henery is the main geezer in the Thanhouser two-reel excruciatingly funny comedy, Oh! Oh! Oh! Henery, starring J.C. Yorke and Frances Keyes.

"Henery is one of those birds whose wife, because of intense jealousy, kept pretty close tabs on him. Henery was afraid of the Mrs., but the beauty and alluring charms of his stenographer were too much for the old boy to withstand. He bestowed her with attentions and frequently paid her luncheon checks and also enjoyed motoring with her. Henery was caught lunching with the fair typist by a friend of his wife and then the trouble began. To divulge the difficulties encountered by Henery would only spoil the hundreds of laughs coming to those fortunate ones who will see this screaming domestic near tragedy."

REVIEW, The Moving Picture World, April 8, 1916:

_"An intensely amusing two-part comedy showing how the faithful wife is deceived, and how the jealous wife undergoes needless hours of misery through the conjurings of her imagination. This number will be much enjoyed by old and young."
