Sea View, the childhood home of Gertrude F. Homan, apparently was demolished in later years. A letter to the author from Keith A. Hardison, superintendent of Beauvoir, dated December 7, 1987, noted: "I regret to say that, as far as we know, the Sea View house no longer exists. The area in which Beauvoir is situated has been subjected to both commercial and modern residential development which, I feel certain, would cover the area originally occupied by the house...." Gertrude's father had moved to the South to enjoy a favorable climate and to seek a cure for "weak lungs."
